The Sopranos

Does it suck now or what? Who the hell wants to watch a family crying as it waits in the ICU for someone to die? Frankly I spent way too much of my real life doing that, I don’t need to watch it on TV.

Screw You, You're Irish

It took me an hour to get to work today.

AN HOUR.

Now, for you suburb driving commuters that might not sound like a lot.. But I walk about 6 blocks to get to work! It took like 45 minutes to get across 5th Ave because of the parade. I happen to be working a noon-8pm shift today, so I was going to work about 11:30, appearently right when the parade was beginning. I had to wait on line to cross the street. It was the most ridiculous thing ever.

I don't See A Sea

I’ve had to go to Secaucus for work twice in the last week. Se-fucking-caucus. To work in basically a big warehouse in the middle of nowhere. Tonight I didn’t get back in to Manhattan until like 9pm. Yuck. But that isn’t really the point of this entry.. This is..

I took the NJ Transit from Penn Station to Secaucus. When I got there, I went upstairs to the exit. The exits are turnstile ticket machines. You need to insert a ticket to get it to let you go through. Now stop and think about that.. To leave you need a ticket. Well, I didn’t have a ticket, having, you know, used it to get there. So there is a guard standing there who is about ten thousand years old. I explain to him that this makes no sense. I don’t have a ticket because I used my ticket to get here, now I just want to leave. He ponders this for a moment and calls over another lady. I explain the same thing to her. She asks where I’m going. I explain that this is where I am going. I just want to exit. She explains to me that I need a ticket. I explain again how I don’t have a ticket having used my ticket to get on the train that took me here. She stops and thinks for a moment. ‘You see how all these people are using a ticket to get out? That’s what you need to do’. I explain again that I understand the procedure, that isn’t the problem. The problem is I don’t have a ticket, because I used my ticket to get here. Here being the exit from the train. A place I could only have gotten to by using a ticket to get on a train and ride it to that spot. She explains to me again that I need a ticket. At this point I figure I have two choices. I could either take out the lady and the security guard and jump the turnstile, or I could procure a ticket. I give in and ask where I can get a ticket. She points me towards a vending machine and I buy a ticket. Another ticket. A ticket from penn station to secaucus. To replace the one I used to get on the train that took me from penn station to secaucus.

Now, I don’t give a crap about the dollar fifty I had to pay for an extra ticket, but stupidity just bothers me. It kills me that nobody thought this situation was the least bit strange. I couldn’t convince her that it was even a little bit strange that you need a ticket. TO LEAVE. To leave the train, that you needed to get on, USING YOUR TICKET.

This is why people make fun of New Jersey.

Hypothetically Speaking

If you desperately needed to come up with about $50k within a few months.. How would you get it?

Any and all methods considered. Would prefer not to have to kill anybody.

I Guess I'm A Horrible Person

A guy I work with has been diagnosed with cancer. I feel bad for the guy and I hope he is ok, I really do. But… all day for the past few days I’ve heard him telling people how he has ‘hopkins’ and every time it takes all my self control not to scream ‘ITS HODGKINS YOU IDIOT!!’. I mean, shouldn’t you know the name? It’s kind of a serious condition.

I'm Home Sick!!

Isn’t that awesome?! I haven’t had a real sick day in like 9 years. I’ve been a consultant for so long. I’m finally an employee again.. now I can stay home.. and get paid! The decadence! Last night I actually did feel like I was gonna die, but today I’m fine. I’m going to FL tonight so I decided to just stay home to make sure I felt good for the weekend, and so I could pack and stuff and not have to worry about getting to the airport from work.

I’ll have pictures of my new.. uhh.. 2nd cousin(?) when I get back. I think thats what he is anyway.

Don't Let Me Kill Again

If you had a dream, and in the dream a cat was talking to you, over instant messenger, and the cat told you to kill someone, would you think that was odd?

‘cause I sure did.

You Got a Little Something on Your Face

Is it just me, or do all the people walking around with crosses on their foreheads today freak you out a little? I think everyone kinda looks like they should be on their way to see Jesus fight some other guy, or maybe to a cross burning. I also can’t help but feel a little like they are coming to get me for being a heathen.

Of course mostly they just look like they should go wash up.

It's The 27th

My phone rings this morning at 7am. Historically, phonecalls at this time of day are never good. I think the last two odd hour phonecalls I received were when my father died and when my ex-girlfriend threatened to kill herself. So as you can imagine, the phone ringing at this time was very unwelcome. It was also very unwelcome to chloe, who likes to curl up next to my head when I’m sleeping, which also happens to be right next to the phone on the endtable. So basically I was awoken this morning by the phone ringing and a cat screaming and clawing at me as she fled the room.

Ok, now you understand the frame of mind I was in. I pick up the phone and look at the caller id. It’s my mom. Why the hell is my retired mom up at 7am and calling me. Surely someone has died. I answer.

Me: What’s the matter?
Mom: What day is it?
Me: What?
Mom: I need to know the date.
Me: Uh.. I think it’s the 27th.
Mom: Are you sure?
Me: Let me check.. yeah, it’s the 27th.
Mom: Oh, ok, good. I wasn’t sure if I had a doctor’s appointment on tuesday.
Me: What?
Mom: You were getting up soon anyway, right?
Me: What?
Mom: Bye.
Me: What?

Yeah.. my mom just might be crazy, and she definitely wants to make me crazy.

Celebrity Sighting

On the way to work this morning I saw Danny Bonaduce on the street. He was just standing there smoking a cigarette talking to random people while a film crew (from his reality show I guess) filmed away. A middle aged man driving by actually stopped his car, got out, and asked him for an autograph.

Yes, I’m using the term ‘celebrity sighting’ pretty liberally here.

Wait.. So I'm the sane one?

I mentioned that my cousin has been acting pretty crazy a while back. Well, since then she has had the baby. The baby is perfectly healthy and normal, so that’s all good. My cousin has gone back on her medication, but so far it doesn’t seem to be helping much. Things really broke down this past weekend. Apparently she tried to kill herself. It’s not really clear if she was ‘serious’ or if it was just a ‘cry for help’ but she slit her wrist. My Aunt (her mother) caught her kind of in the act, so she wasn’t able to really do enough damage to be serious physically, but obviously it is very serious mentally. So again the debate over having her admitted to a hospital has surfaced. I’m really not sure what I think is best. Obviously it’s not ideal for her to be in the hospital when there is a brand new baby at home. I’m sure whats best for the baby is to have her mother around, but not if it means the mother is a danger to herself or to the baby.

I think it’s safe to say I have officially dropped to second craziest in the family.

King Of Pain

As me 2 or 3 regular visitors will remember.. I tried out for a tv show. Well, I didn’t get on. The show premiered on tuesday night.. What a suckfest! First of all, most of the players aren’t average people, they are well known professional gamblers who are on TV all the time. Second of all.. it’s really boring. The format is just ‘meh’ and the characters aren’t all that compelling.

I wrote a longer review on my other blog.

Working is Hard

Well I’ve completed my first week. The good news is, so far the new job is great. The bad news is, I’m exhausted. I fell asleep at about 8pm last night. I thought I was taking a nap, but then I woke up at 11am this morning. Then about noon I fell asleep again and was woken up by the phone at like 2pm. That’s 17 hours of sleep! Hell.. I only worked 32 hours this week because Monday was a holiday. I feel like I’ve turned into Chloe.. the only person, well, cat, that I know that can go from running around to being asleep in 2 seconds flat. I think I might have slept more than her so far this weekend.

Happy New Year

And good riddance 2005, you sucked! All in all I had a pretty shitty 2005.. Loss of my job.. twice.. Gambling losses that were larger than they should have been.. Not much of a social or lovelife to speak of.. But that’s all gonna change. It’s a new year, and time for a change for the better. Tuesday I start the the year off with a brand new job that I’m really excited about, and I have plans for changing all the other things as well.

As for New Year’s itself.. It was good. I went to Atlantic City (go figure) and saw Velvet Revolver Friday night. The concert was pretty cool, but really the highlight was when they did a few Guns and Roses and STP songs. The actual Velvet Revolver songs weren’t bad, but other than maybe one that’s been on the radio I didn’t know any of them so I wasn’t that into it. The actual New Year was rung in playing some poker drunk with a bunch of friends and strangers.

I'm Employed!

Finally. I’m so sick of going on interviews, and honestly, I’m bored out of my mind. I’m sure as soon as I start working I’ll wish I had more free time, but right now, I’m sick of free time. I don’t know my start date yet.. Being a few days before Christmas not everyone is around that needs to be to finalize all the paperwork, but I’ll find out the final details Tuesday.

It’s about time I had some good news..
